I have a variety of tools in my tool box, and one of my favourites is EFT – Emotional Freedom Technique. What I love about this tool is that it is so simple and gentle and yet so powerful. It can be used on absolutely anything and it is a great self-help tool. It works
Have you managed to quit smoking, only to re-start after a few weeks or months? Do you find it frustrating that you are unable to quit smoking permanently? Have you wondered why you find it so difficult to stop, yet those around you have managed to quit?
Hypnotherapy can be a powerful tool in helping to stop smoking.
There are many reasons for starting to smoke in the first place. These may include peer pressure, an increase in stress in your work or personal life, or being in uncomfortable situations. When there is a psychological need to smoke, it acts as a distraction in uncomfortable situations, and it can then become a habit.
But the reverse is also true. Taking it up due to peer pressure can lead the subconscious to believe it needs smoking in stressful situations, resulting in psychological dependence. Often underlying these needs are issues of anxiety and low self-esteem.
Hypnotherapy is able to address these issues and change beliefs into more positive ones to aid in quitting smoking. Hypnotherapy is only an aid and will only work if you are motivated to quit smoking and willing to face any issues preventing you from quitting. You will need to be prepared to make changes in areas of your life to accomplish this so that quitting becomes permanent.
Hypnotherapy may also help in any withdrawal symptoms and cravings.
The treatment programme of a 2hr session works well where smoking has become a habit. There is an initial free 15 min telephone consultation to assess whether Hypnotherapy would be suitable. The first part of the session consists of an assessment of your smoking habits, beliefs behind smoking, motivation and emotional issues. The “when, where and why” of the smoking pattern are looked at in depth. We will work together to come up with ways of changing these. The second half of the session involves Hypnotherapy which will address any issues discussed.
I also offer a course of 1 hour sessions if I believe there is more underlying the smoking. I would use a mixture of EFT and hypnotherapy.
Out of the blue, after 20yrs in the same job, there is a change in management and Jeff starts to feel anxious about going into work. There have been some recent changes and a few redundancies. He no longer feels secure in his job, and he is finding it difficult to keep up with the
You have come off the phone from a conversation with a friend and your internal voice is raging at you. “You did it again! Why? Why? Why? I thought you said you wouldn’t do that again.” You feel angry with yourself, disappointed maybe, or even ashamed. You had promised yourself you would never EVER behave
Do you toss and turn at night? Unable to sleep because you can’t switch your mind off? This is a very common problem, especially if lives have become busy or work is stressful. A very simple activity to help with this is to write a journal last thing at night prior to going to sleep.
It was so embarrassing. I was sure it was Judy, this morning in town. I saw this woman in the queue in the post office as I was leaving. I was so pleased, because I hadn’t seen her for ages, and we get on really well. She had her back to me, but when I
We all know that getting a good night’s sleep is important, and we have all experienced what it feels like after a bad night. And if I were to ask you why this is important you would probably say it is to recharge our batteries. But what does “recharging our batteries” actually mean? There are
